Platygomphus benritarum sp. nov. and rediscovery of Anormogomphus heteropterus Selys, 1854 (Odonata: Anisoptera: Gomphidae) from Tezpur, Assam, India
Anormogomphus heteropterus is a rare dragonfly whose male had not been recorded for many decades. This species is re-described and discrepancies in previous illustrations are addressed.
Platygomphus benritarum Joshi & Mital, 2022 is described on the basis of a single male collected along the Brahmaputra. This species was christened in the honor of two women Monisha ‘Ben’ Behal (founder, Northeast Network) and Rita Banerji (founder, The Green Hub), who have contributed significantly towards empowering and training the youth of northeast India, working towards creating ecological security, sustainable livelihoods, and social change.
