Matrona basilaris Selys, 1853 -

Taxonomic Information

The status of this taxon is still under debate. Some taxonomists continue to treat it as a distinct species while there is mixed evidence that this may either be a subspecies of Matrona nigripectus Selys, 1879 - Assam Bluewing, or its synonym. The debate may eventually be settled with an integrated taxonomic approach, which is awaited.
